There’s still just under a month until triple j unveils it Hottest 100 of 2014 countdown on Australia Day, but according to online bookmakers Canberra duo Peking Duk are the new favourites to take top spot, surpassing previous favourite Chet Faker.
According to Sportingbet, punters have backed Peking Duk’s High into the favourite position, replacing Chet Faker’s Talk Is Cheap as the popular pick to be the number 1 song in the annual Hottest 100 countdown.
“We’ve taken more bets for High than any other song and punters have backed it from $6 into $2.40 since we opened our market,” said Sportingbet’s Andrew Brown. “All the early money was for Talk Is Cheap but we’ve now taken significantly more money for the Peking Duk track.”
Other tracks making a strong showing since the last polls were taken include Future Islands’ Seasons (Waiting On You) which has moved up from sixth to third place, as well as Hilltop Hoods’ Cosby Sweater which has moved from seventh to fourth place.
See the current positions of songs in the list below, as they appear at the time of writing. They are expected to change as punters place bets. Voting for triple j‘s Hottest 100 of 2014 is open now at the triple j website.
